Today we chat with Sheila Berry to discuss life at SUAY since starting in November 2016.  We discover what is the driving force behind her successful Holistic Therapy career and get to know a little more about her.

Hi Sheila, how are you settling into SUAY?
I am working at Suay since November. I particularly enjoy the banter of the hair and beauty clients .  In a business like this no two days are the same between the variety of clients and their needs. I am happy to work with Dr. Murad products and his philosophy – look better, feel better and live better as this complements my holistic approach.

look better, feel better and live better

What type of work do you do at SUAY?
My work here is very varied  i.e the beauty side Dr. Murad facials, Lycon waxing, eye treatments, electrolysis and then the holistic side. Aromatherapy (massage using essential oils custom blended to clients particular needs), Swedish Massage (full body or back), Indian Head Massage (client’s sitted position – massage using custom blended oils massaging scalp, upper arms and upper back. Reflexology.

What inspired you to work as a Holistic Therapist?
Whilst training as a beauty therapist I particularly enjoyed the massage so the holistic route seemed the obvious choice as I have a keen interest in learning and was amazed at the health and healing aspects of the essential oils.

For someone who knows nothing about Holistic Therapy… What is it?
Holistic Therapy is all about healing therapies that considers the whole person and can assist with imbalances in the body and create homeostasis – balance in the body, mind, spirit and emotions. Holistic therapy is all about gaining proper balance in life.

Do you have any rememberable experience whilst working in holistic therapy?
Each treatment is very fulfilling and very varied and personal to each and ever client and confidentiality is of utmost importance.  I can put my hand on my heart and say I am truly blessed to assist and share in individuals  joys, pains, struggles as we journey together.

What advice do you have for those who are stressed out with work, life, exams, etc… Can Holistic Therapy help with this?
Advice is very personal to each and every person what will suit one will not suit another. Some work extremely well under stress and for others it can play havoc with their life and health. Holistic therapy is stepping off the rollercoaster and reassess and creating balance.

Do you ever find some people might be shy or don’t know how to go about getting holistic therapy?
Yes most definitely and once they have a treatment they wonder why they shied off or hesitated for so long.
I reassure clients that there modesty is maintained at all times and they are in control.

How do I know if the treatment is right for me?
Following consultation we decide which treatment will best achieve the desired results. Client education on lifestyle  changes, Assess health problems, diet and sleep habits, stress and personal problems. Treatment involves fixing the cause of the condition not just alleviating the symptoms.

List three words to describe yourself?
Caring, respectful and compassionate.
